The space

HOUSE OVERVIEW

--Best suited for a couple, small family with a very young kid, or two couples who won’t mind being in close quarters with each other.

--Bedroom/bathroom suite is separated from the living area by double doors with frosted glass that close and lock.

--Bathroom and bedroom area have blackout blinds.

--Open floor plan: the living room flows to the kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, butcher block dining island, and laundry/breakfast bar area.

PROPERTY OVERVIEW

--Located at the end of a dirt road, which depending on the weather and time of year, (we grade the road annually), can sometimes require navigating some bumps with care. It is always drive-able with any 2-wheel drive vehicle.

--Cabin sits above the west fork of the Chowchilla river canyon, on 10 private acres.

-- A quarter mile of the river runs through the property. It can be accessed by a nearby dirt trail that loses approximately 200’ in elevation before it reaches the river canyon floor.

--The property is secluded, very, very quiet–especially at night–and offers opportunities for star gazing and nature watching.

--Outdoor dining area and Adirondack chairs with cushions, plus 2-person hammock provided

--Propane outdoor BBQ and firepit provided. (Firepit is for fall/winter use only.)

Guest access

Use our place as a base camp for exploring Yosemite National Park and Mariposa County, or simply settle in and retreat here. The whole property is yours to roam as you wish. You'll find everything you need to have the best time hanging out with family or friends, getting your work done, and just relaxing.

One of the highlights of our property is our river, which is accessed by a well-marked and groomed trail that's also perfect for taking a morning or evening stroll on. If you venture to the river and go a bit further downstream, you can find lots to explore.

Other things to note

WILDLIFE
As in any mountainous setting close to Yosemite NP, wild animals could pass through the property, near to the cabin. Be prepared to see deer, rabbits, squirrels and birds. Occasionally, there may be coyotes. Rarely, snakes, bears and bobcats can pass through, but they tend to avoid humans.

THE RIVER
The Chowchilla river is a seasonal river. In normal rainfall years it usually only flows October to July, depending on annual snowpack and rainfall. We are currently in a multi-year drought, so the duration of the river flowing is shorter. If you’d like to experience the river flowing during your visit, plan to come before the end of May. Peak time to enjoy the river––when it’s warm enough to sunbathe and swim, is early April to mid-May.

WILDFIRE
Burn restrictions can in effect throughout the year. Outdoor fires will only be allowed from November-May typically, and only in a designated firepit.
