Your own private retreat includes sauna, breakfast, and massage (separate fee paid to masseur) by prior appointment. All just 5 minutes from town and Glass Beach.

The Garden at Road’s End, located just two miles from the beach at Pudding Creek in Fort Bragg is a garden lover’s paradise. Set on 8 acres in the middle of a carefully tended lush landscape, the gardens are surrounded by fields, forest, and redwood groves. As my guests, you’ll have the sense you’ve stepped into another world- one that offers peace, tranquility, and the opportunity to recharge and find your own place of inspiration.

You will be offered a private, self-contained architecturally designed studio adjacent to the main house. The 500 sq. ft. space features a comfy living area with a large sofa, table and chairs, a cozy window seat with views to the gardens, and photographs and original artwork by some of The Mendocino Coast's most renowned artists. The sleeping area includes TWO double beds, so the studio easily accommodates four, in one large, light-filled room. A queen-sized air mattress is also available for those of you wishing to add an extra person or two. The well-appointed kitchenette allows you to prepare simple meals with its refrigerator, countertop convection oven, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle and blender. An array of simple breakfast foods, (bagels, fruit) and coffee and teas are included with your accommodations. A dining table and 4 chairs allow you to eat comfortably, and a beautiful bathroom of modest proportions with a glass block shower, plus large area for hanging and storing clothes complete your accommodations. A very efficient Monitor heater will keep your room at the temperature you prefer.

In the event of planned or unplanned power outages, I have a generator to provide you with all the essentials, minus the sauna, and garden fountains and waterfalls.

A wet/dry cedar sauna, free weights, outdoor shower, comfy hammock, fire table, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of places to sit throughout the gardens complement your studio space. Please note: prior reviews may have mentioned a hot tub. This has been permanently removed from service.

A separate massage studio on the property offers massage and bodywork by prior appointment with an extremely talented local professional therapist, Paul, and he will help you to fully unwind and surrender into peace. The gardens have played host to many garden tours, fund-raising events, an inspirational Houzz video, and more than a dozen couples have been married in the gardens over the past 20 years. Please note I no longer host weddings or events, however. I bring my talents as an architect, landscaper, lover of Spirit, and as an innkeeper for 13 years at a retreat center in Sonoma County into play here, where I have finally found a place to live out my passion, and share it with others.

I am fully licensed to operate a B&B, and the rates include an 11% hotel tax which I pay to the county, so staying with here helps support the local economy here on the Mendocino Coast.

The Garden at Road's End is just 5 minutes from downtown with its restaurants and shops, and from the famous Glass Beach, Skunk Train, and from miles of spectacular coastline with its many beaches and hiking trails. The property is a 20 minute drive along Highway One to the Victorian Village of Mendocino- a must see!

Massage services are offered on site in a separate massage studio by a very talented local masseur by prior appointment. (Reservations may not be available due to COVID-19). Combine this with sauna, (and hammock) for your own personal spa experience.
