About this space

The Surf Sanctuary retreat is minutes away from remote beaches and redwoods. The sanctuary is a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom guest house with a full kitchen and bathroom. We are located within a 5 minute drive to the beach, and 30 minutes away from Redwood State and National Parks. Perfect launch location for hiking, surfing, cycling and enjoying this amazing place. Enjoy our beautiful quiet space for relaxation and renewal.

Surf Sanctuary is a private, quiet and peaceful retreat setting. We have created a clean and centering sanctuary with positive intention. The space is solar powered, and we use green cleaning products. The queen size bed is located in the bedroom, and an additional queen size bed sofa sleeper is located in the living room. Please note that there is not a door to the bedroom, it is an open archway. We chose not to install a television in the space, but the wi-fi is fast and reliable if you need internet for work or entertainment. The space is bright and airy with simple beauty. There are many custom touches, and hardwood hickory floors. The kitchen is fully functional for enjoying the bounty of local foods. You will have a private patio area to enjoy, and you are welcome to explore our 2 acre yard. There are many magical places to practice yoga or meditation. We care about your safety. We open all doors and windows to thoroughly ventilate the space between guests. In addition, we sanitize all surfaces and doorknobs and cleanse all towels and sheets with hot water and scent free detergent. We have also stocked the space with hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies.

We live in a rural part of Humboldt County, but we are located 5 minutes from HWY 101. Please drive slowly on our private road. The access gate to our home can be tricky, so please feel free to turn around once you enter the property so you do not have to back out. Our home is located in front. You will drive back behind the first house and pull your vehicle up to parking spot beside the garage. The entry door is convenient and steps from your car.

We have a traditional cedar electric sauna available for our guests to enjoy for up to one session per visit. If you would like to coordinate usage of the sauna please let us know.

We live in the front house which is located 50' away from the privacy fence that separates the main house from the guest house. The guest house is completely private from the front house.

Please note that we have a septic pump that is fragile and cannot handle feminine sanitary products. Toilet paper only in the toilet. Please dispose of everything else in the trash can. Thank you!
