About this space
GREAT NEWS - Topanga Canyon survived the fire and all the wonderful things it has are still available.
Please come visit our stores, restaurants and explore the State Park. Please help our community by supporting the small businesses that make Topanga Canyon the most unique town in Los Angeles.
Welcome to our Creekside Trailer house. Part trailer, part tiny house and definitely a "tree house" experience, the best in hippie ingenuity creating an entirely unique living space.
The space
The Creekside Trailer is your perfect escape. This is a truly "Topangan" guest house that uses hippie inspired creativity that made the 1960’s the magical era that they were.
Part 1950's Pontiac vintage trailer, part "tree house". We’re situated on a seasonal creek making this home a one of a kind getaway experience.
The magical space is a climate controlled tiny home which includes a great room with a twin sized day bed that boasts floor to ceiling windows overlooking the seasonal creek , a compact full functioning kitchen with a built in dining area, a cozy sleeping cabin with a full size memory foam bed, and finally a full sized bathroom with plenty of hot water for a shower/tub and a bidet toilet.
Included are two private outdoor spaces for your enjoyment; a covered patio with a love seat situated by the calming sounds of a fountain and a deck off of the great room with a bistro table and lounger perfect for open air deck dining that sits above and alongside the creek. Sorry, we do not offer a TV so unplug from urban life and enjoy a glass of wine and an al fresco dinner listening to vintage records from local Topanga artists (or your own music) on the Bluetooth enabled turntable. We also have a guitar (that we tune occasionally) that is your to play plus many classic wood board games to enjoy while hearing the owls, frogs and other critters.
The Creekside Trailer is centrally located to the heart of Topanga with dining local favorites like The Inn of the Seventh Ray and Canyon Bistro just a quick walk away.
We’re also steps away from the Topanga State Park trailheads making your getaway activities such as hiking or mountain biking so much easier since you can leave your car parked next to the house and enjoy all that Topanga Canyon has to offer.
There is still beach access to Santa Monica and Malibu but due to the fires, the road is slightly longer and much more scenic, but that's part of the adventure.
Guest access
Situated at the end of a long shared driveway, you will have dedicated parking for one car right outside a short walk path to your private retreat. We're sorry, but due to the need of having accessibility for safety and deliveries any additional cars will need to street park at the entrance to the driveway.
To also note, we have a shared driveway with the property below and please use caution coming up to the Creekside Trailer. If the occasion arises with a car coming down the hill, uphill traffic has the right of way.
Other things to note
We're sorry, but this is a couples/singles only retreat. Also, out of respect to our neighbors no parties or small gatherings are allowed. Please do not inquire about this as the answer will be no. We don't want to be harsh, but if there is a party or gathering, you'll be asked to leave.
Every Tuesday we have landscapers on the property from approximately 8:00 am-11:00 am taking care of the abundant plant life on our land. They will not enter the guest house area, but you will hear leaf blowers, weed whackers and other gardening tools clearing the grounds. We thank you in advance for understanding the need to keeping our property fire hardened as well as keeping Topanga and all of its residents safe.
Also, this is quite different from staying in an ordinary hotel. We ARE really in nature here along a wildlife trail and seasonal creek and this is a one of a kind guest house. Even though it has all the modern conveniences, it is still rustic and not unlike living in a mountain cottage. Please be aware at night that you might hear an occasional critter thumping against a wall or scampering on the roof, owls who-ing as loud as they can, coyotes howling in the distance or a raccoon hanging out on the deck.
We use CDC safe guidelines for cleaning the entire guest home, sanitize all linens and use a Winix air purifier between guests to help keep everyone safe and healthy.
to note
Additionally, if you are a photographer looking to use this property as a location, sorry but this is NOT allowed. Please don't ask as the answer is no and by ignoring these rules, you will be asked to leave.
Due to EXTREME HIGH FIRE RISK, this is a NON SMOKING/NO OPEN FLAME property. In addition to our non smoking policy, incense, sage smudge sticks, palo santo, candles or anything else that burns in any form is not allowed. The Creekside Trailer comes with realistic LED candles so you can have some nice candlelit ambience without the threat of fire. We're preemptively thanking you for understanding and observing this important rule as it contributes to the safety of this entire canyon and all of its residents.
Sorry but pets are not allowed.
Additionally, the Creekside Trailer is extremely private but on a shared property with the main house. The dedicated entry path leads you to the trailer and once you're settled in; fences, landscaping, trellises and the seasonal creek will make you feel as if you're the only people here.
Living in Topanga Canyon means living with the potential for fires, floods, and road closures. While some see this as an inconvenience, we see it as living with nature. During the dry season, there is risk of fire, during the rainy season, there is risk of mudslides, road closures, and floods. Our policy is that if we are not in active evacuation then reservations still stand. If there is a way in and out of the canyon, reservations still stand. Please know that risk when booking your stay.
Finally during high winds, fire season and most notably when we're experiencing what's known as "Santa Ana" weather conditions Los Angeles County may call a "RED FLAG" warning which means there is a EXTREME risk of fire danger. This creates a rare possibility that the local electricity provider SoCal Edison will implement a "PSPS" (Public Safety Power Shutoff) to prevent wildfires. These are out of our control and generally rarely occur, but if one happens there may be a canyon wide power outage.
