The space

Remote, quiet cabin with loft bedroom and private, southern-exposure deck offer creative sanctuary. ***Please have a complete AirBnB profile before requesting a reservation, especially if you don't have any reviews yet.

**Disruption and Extenuating Circumstances policy NEW Please note:

**Fire season and winter weather advisory. Hosts reserve the right to cancel any reservation on short notice due to severe weather or wildfire disruptions. Efficient, tiny galley, on-demand heater, wood stove. 7 miles to the store or gourmet restaurants. Dozens of beaches, hike/bike trails, rivers, state parks to explore. Rustic, yet elegant main room is 225 sq ft with cathedral ceiling and a 120 sq ft sleeping loft. Steep ladder to loft. A shower, toilet, and pedestal sink afford endless forest views with on-demand hot water, and antique touches. There's a loveseat, cozy chair, dining table and chairs in the main room. Up an 11-step ladder find a queen Flo-Bed, small desk and a tree-house-like forest view. Filtered light and a restful quietude invite sweet dreams. Sterilized dishes are stocked in the galley, as is coffee service, tea, and minimal utensils. Farm-fresh apples, berries, or veggies on request (in season). Galley has a small fridge, 2-burner stove. Firewood is supplied and if you need extra it will be left on the porch for a small extra cost. No TV. Your choice: disconnect from the information superhighway or connect to wireless and cell networks. Cell service is spotty in this area. Ask about (recently upgraded) wi-fi.

We look forward to sharing this retreat with those who seek harmony and proximity to nature's moods.

Please feel free to ask about week-long (or longer) retreat discounts if you're working on a book, screenplay, or other creative project.

A few words about Owl Tree cabin to decide if you'd like to stay here.

The Owl Tree cabin has its own level driveway; it takes less than a minute to walk on a trail from parking to the cabin. Hosts live across the driveway. All that you might hear at night will be the breeze in the top branches of the redwoods, and perhaps frogs, an owl, or the red-tailed hawk who soars nearby.

Every spot on Earth has its own unique energy. The cabin and the forest canyon are conducive to creative energy, to the creative mind, at work or play.

The cabin is also a place for intimacy—hopefully more than just a place to sleep while you enjoy the coast, this place is designed to become part of your experience here.

The oak table is an idea the cabin was built around—you can sit there, draw, write or daydream, warmed by the wood burning stove, and let your imagination roam.

Proximity.

When it is foggy on the coast (5 miles away) it is often sunny and warm here, summer tempered by the coastal marine layer. Closest market, post office and gas are 7 miles from the cabin.

Some of the best beaches, hiking trails, places to swim, surf, kayak are between here and Elk. Historic and picturesque Mendocino town is about 13 miles away. A wine tasting trip to Anderson Valley is within 30 minutes. **Note in this rural area, cafe and restaurant hours may vary seasonally.

The Owl Tree cabin comes with a picnic table and umbrella in a small meadow next to redwood trees; also perfect for stargazing.

Regardless of where you decide to stay on the North Coast, it's hard to imagine a world in trouble when you are here. The meadows, forests, and ocean seem timeless.

Self-Check-In: 4pm, or by prior arrangement. Try to arrive before dark! Bring a headlamp! Check out before noon.

By making a reservation, you confirm that you understand our cancellation policy and public health protocols. Please protect your holiday with Trip & Travel Insurance.

Note: price includes mandatory 11% Mendocino County Bed Tax for every stay (29 days or less).
