Guest access
The homestead is ⅒ mile off a paved roadway in the MIDDLE OF THE DESERT. As paved roads go in this remote of a location, with this much privacy, this is as good as it gets. You will need a vehicle to access any resources beyond what you arrive with at the cabin. There is parking for 2 cars immediately in front of the property and those spaces are clearly marked. NO MORE THAN 2 CARS. PERIOD.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 2-person listing. Perhaps 3 people with 2 adults and 1 baby/child in the pack ‘n play. We allow 3 people to book with the understanding that if you book for 3 guests, guest lucky #3 will have the coveted privilege of either bringing their own sleeping arrangements or crashing on the king-sized bed in the living space as a 3rd wheel. We do NOT provide a bed, linens, or ANYTHING ADDITIONAL for guest #3. This is a 1959 original tiny home ~ 412 sq/ft. It's small! But she's got almost everything you could ever need.
You are making a STRICT | NON-REFUNDABLE booking. We strongly suggest all guests procure traveler's insurance. We also graciously ask that guests not request refunds for reasons outside of the hosts' control. You are choosing to book this listing and live like a local. As a result, you may be subject to POWER OUTAGES (of unlimited duration), WATER OUTAGES, SNOW EVENTS, RAIN EVENTS, WIND EVENTS, or PERSONAL ILLNESSES which are all outside of the hosts' control. NO REFUNDS.
Other things to note
When inquiring/booking the listing, please be sure you are booking for the correct number of guests in your group. Each guest beyond 1 guest (guest #1 is the person booking the property - you) is $25/guest/day+tax/fees. Pets are also subject to the same fee as guests. Please use the "Pet" selection at booking along with the correct number of pets. Daytime guests must also be disclosed at booking. Any undisclosed guests of any kind are subject to a $100 fee per guest and additional booking fees.
Our floor is polished concrete which can get pretty cold in the winter. If you have a cozy pair of socks you like, you should bring them for wearing around the cabin.
All of the living space's conventional windows & doors have room-darkening shades. However, the upper clerestory windows (at the roofline) do NOT have shades. The living space can NOT be made pitch black while the sun is up.
In the desert, critters are simply a fact of life. Just a warning for those wary of bugs; even though we have the house professionally cleaned after each guest, and we use humane methods of mitigating pests where possible, we simply can't avoid the occasional critter(s) from breaking in. This includes critters related pool/spa amenities at the property. The existence of bugs in/around pool/spa amenities are 100% out of the host's control.
To be clear: bug/critter sightings inside or outside the home are possible. If this is a problem for you, BOOK ELSEWHERE. NO REFUNDS.
Southern California is inhabited by abundant predatory wildlife including but not limited to: coyotes, bears, snakes, raptors, rodents, arachnids, and scorpions. Although we have had exactly zero issues with any of the above, you must be very vigilant with your loved ones to keep everyone safe from local wildlife.
We are on a fragile septic system here in the desert. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET! This includes but is not limited to baby wipes (or wipes of any kind), feminine hygiene products, facial tissue, paper towels, hair, etc. These things WILL clog the system and you will not be able to use the shower, sinks or toilets.
For photo shoots/films and anything else similar, please contact us first for permission.
Spa & Cowboy Pool: Please note that the spa/cowboy pool are located in one of the dustiest regions on earth. Even though both are cleaned/balanced/vacuumed immediately prior to your arrival, there is a 100% chance that there will be dust/sand/dirt in them. Please also note that the H₂O from the Joshua Basin aquifer is high in chromium-6. This can cause the water to not be crystal clear and/or can cause excess surface bubbles if the jets/oxygenation are turned on. Both of these situations are 100% harmless. Skin irritation/sensitivity may occur as a result of this trace element. If either of these uncontrollable facts make you even slightly uncomfortable, please do not plan on using the water features.
REITERATIVE TRAVEL ADVISORY. There is a FORESEEN LIKELIHOOD of snow events, rain events, wind events, and outage events resulting in road closures. Especially November-March. YOU ARE ADVISED TO GET TRAVELERS INSURANCE. We uphold your agreed upon cancellation policies to the letter. NO REFUNDS.
There is a neighbor in the area named Tim with two extremely friendly dogs named Jessica and Pancho. The dogs may come up and say hi to you if Tim happens to be going on a walk adjacent to the acreage. These dogs are friendly and Tim is a lovely person. Feel free to say hello!
LIABILITY WAIVER - By making your reservation you and the other members in your party as THE GUESTS agree to release THE HOSTS from all liability, including financial responsibility relating to injuries & personal property damage that may occur during your stay. You understand that using the hot tub, hiking and climbing anywhere on the property is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with using the hot tub and hiking and/or climbing. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising while on the property and hold owner harmless.
Finally, have fun, but treat the cabin and wildlife on the property with respect. It is a piece of history and we put a lot of love into it and we want our future guests to enjoy it as much as you. Thank you!
