The space

**Don't see availability? "Favorite" our listing, then reach out directly or check back the week-of, and we may be able to open dates for you!** Imagine yourself securely perched just high enough in the forest (4 steps up), inside your cozy yet spacious climate-controlled, insulated dome. Glamping-Plus, we call it (*Winter note: if temps get into the 30s, the dome won't be as warm inside as a regular house, but we provide a new electric blanket for the bed, and extra throw blankets!). At a roomy 525 sq. ft., Moonhaven Haus is a private, design-forward space ideal for couples or solo travelers (no pets, and children under 10 aren't allowed in the hot tub). You're likely to encounter our neighbor's super-friendly dog outdoors and you might see a neighbor or two or hear animal sounds at night (it’s the forest, y’all!). You'll love waking to the beauty of nature while experiencing the comforts and amenities of home; we've proactively considered the needs and wants of guests looking for a memorable experience outside of the ordinary. We cater to those with eclectic but discriminating tastes, who would enjoy sipping Moroccan mint tea while listening to our little vinyl collection and perusing the curated stash of books. Who'd relax in the cloud-like bed while streaming a 70s movie, with swirling strobe lights dancing all around the dome's interior. Who love hiking and exploring cute towns but won't settle for a stay that isn't visually-striking and appealing to the senses. If that sounds like you, come settle in to Moonhaven Haus. The only problem? You just might not want to leave...

Here are some more reasons why:

*custom wood and resin bathroom countertop, with lighting beneath

Guest access

You'll have private access to the dome site, which includes the dome (with full curtains for privacy and added insulation) and deck, plus a *small* amount of surrounding wooded area, with a Solo fire pit and chairs, grilling area, hot tub, and a meditation spot with a soothing wind chime. Note that there are a few neighbors, but you aren’t likely to see them much (and maybe not at all). Please also know that you’re in the woods and we can’t guarantee you won’t hear any wild or domesticated animal sounds at night! Early check-in/late checkout can't be accommodated due to our cleaners' schedule. It's easy to walk around on the unpaved road and the paved road going down the mountain; neighbor dog Mongo might join you! You’ll be 3 minutes from the nearest restaurant (Country House Cafe) and 12 minutes from the nearest grocery store, so you'll want to plan accordingly.

Other things to note

Please walk and sit in the forest at your own risk; we do what we can to ensure that the areas are as safe as we can reasonably make them. The dome is fully insulated, so there are no worries about adequate heating or cooling via the mini split (check the manual for more info—you shouldn’t be uncomfortable!). There's also a cute electric stove for ambience and/or extra heat. The dome and surrounding area are treated, but since you're in a large dome in a forested area, so you might see a couple of bugs (we treat for stink bugs this time of year, but they still manage to find their way up to the top of the dome…); we recommend that the door be kept closed to greatly minimize this possibility. There are blackout curtains for privacy, but light/heat will come through the skylight during the day (and you can gaze up at the moon at night!). The kitchen has all the basics (and more) except a regular oven and dishwasher. Coffee and a variety of teas are provided. There's a large electric skillet, and the microwave can also be used as an air fryer and convection oven. There's a flush toilet, and the bathroom has a ceiling and walls, for privacy. You might see a few friendly neighbors nearby, and it’s possible you’ll hear a coyote at night; we provide earplugs and a small sound machine.
