About this space

Moon Mountain Cabin is perched on a moonscape mini-mountain and surrounded by sweeping unobstructed views. Count shooting stars from our hillside hot tub. Walk to the top of our hill at sunset for a spectacular 360-degree view of North Joshua Tree and Copper Mountain. Our cabin is a 15-minute drive from Joshua Tree National Park for hiking, rock-climbing, some of the most otherworldly landscapes in the world.

The space

Our cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway or a contemplative rejuvenation experience. With huge windows and glass-doors, the view is just as awesome from the living area or dinner table as it is from the deck or hot tub. Lie in bed and watch the sunrise over Copper Mountain or the moonrise while grilling on our deck.

The Moon Mountain Cabin is a 600 square foot, one room, open-plan cabin. We have satellite wifi and a mini-split heating and cooling unit and ceiling fans. Our kitchen is fully equipped for cooking with pots, pans, stove with an oven and a refrigerator/freezer. We have fresh coffee from the Joshua Tree Coffee Company and a French Press for the most delicious coffee.

Sleeping arrangements include a queen size bed and works best for a couple.

Outside we have multiple areas for relaxing. The eastern side of the house features a deck that gets evening shade for cocktail-hour and a western patio in morning shade for brunch. The fenced side yard features a rocky staircase leading to additional seating areas.

The cabin is fairly remote, about a mile down a dirt road. We drive a sedan on our road all the time but we do recommend going very slowly and carefully up our driveway to avoid scraping cars with lower clearance.

Other things to note

QUIET PLEASE - Moon Mountain Cabin is a quiet retreat; please no parties or loud music. Sound travels in the desert and though our nearest neighbors are 5 acres away, they can hear everything.

NO OPEN CAMPFIRES ALLOWED- return guests might remember that we used to allow guests to make wood campfires but the drought conditions in California have made this too big a risk. Thank you for understanding.

GENERAL - Moon Mountain Cabin doesn’t have a TV or a microwave, but you can stream on your laptop or device, and heat leftovers on the stove.

LIGHT - Our cabin is beautifully filled with windows and light. We have solar screens to enjoy the views, but we don't have blackout shades. If you're a late sleeper we recommend you bring a sleep mask.

WATER - The house is plumbed via a gravity-fed system from a water tank on the hill above the house. This means the water pressure isn’t the same as what you are used to in the city. We like to think of it as showering in warm rainfall. For this reason, we ask that you keep a close eye on your water usage while staying with us. It’s good practice if you are a citizen of drought-prone California!

CREATURES - Our land is filled with creatures. We see lizards, families of quail, desert tortoises, hawks, ravens, roadrunners, and jackrabbits. We also keep an eye out for coyotes, rattlesnakes, and scorpions and you should too.

TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX (TOT) - A 7% tax required by San Bernardino County. Airbnb collects this tax and sends it into the county as a part of your nightly fees.
